DegrowthActionPresentation

Presentation about degrowth action:

After a lot of reading, many questions came up about how to take information into action. Are there opportunities for actions, both local and into the political arena?

In particular, there is interest in regenerative agriculture. Are there candates we can support? There is a desire to take action (certainly climate change and the current political climate create urgency).

Discussion:

Traditional politicians need to be educated and go against their financial support. Local elections might be more successful.

We need to increase awareness. Many people don’t have the time or capacity to understand that it is possible to live outside of growth society. We need to present in schools and degrowth “cafes”.

There are tools for action. Learning is one such tool. We don’t want to make the same mistakes we made in the past. The degrowth community is still figuring out its focus and how to bring degrowth ideas into public discourse.

We need to coordinate local actions between countries. Degrowth “cafes” are spreading awareness and getting into different circles.

How do we counter pressure to grow economies? How do we build coalitions around political ideas and actions? Are there similar causes we can attach to?

How do we grow degrowth? How do you expand what works for 100 acres to 1000 acres? Also, how can we expand the number of 100 acre farms?

We could also create groups to share skills.
