Military and Climate
Presentation on How the Military Messes with the Climate:
Very little that the military does does not affect climate. They know about it but won't talk about it. The military is the largest institutional green house gas polluter, with about 800 bases worldwide. In addition to the green house gas pollution, there is radioactivity from nuclear tests. How do we achieve peace if we are "armed to the teeth"? What is the true purpose of the military? It protects the economic interests of the wealthy, insures access to Middle-East oil and is the single most profitable business. It does not currently protect our borders, which have not been threatened in a long time.
Comments:
The actual extent of green house gas emissions from the military is excluded from proper measurement. Resource use and pollution are not just from the footprint of the 800 or so bases, but also military exercises, test flights, air shows, and the weapons industry.
